Smart School

For the past 12 weeks, I had come up with an idea of deploying a smart home system in Liger since I found out that there were some students didn’t turn off the lights or AC after they leave the room. Also, it is very important for distinguished people to come in their class and have everything prepared for fans on and AC on. So this is why I come up with this idea of creating a smart school, where anyone in Liger can turn everything off and on with their devices. So to break that down, I am working with Infrared Radiation to send signals to all of the devices in the school that us remote control. Currently, I’m working on controlling only fans in a room, Lab Innovation, first since the remote control always lost and easier devices. So under here is my circuit on the fan.

DIY and Recycle old Electronics

Today, most of the students are leaving back to their hometown for a Water Festival break. This year of water festival I don’t go home so I just stay here at the school to do other things. Well, today I spent my whole morning working on recycling my old and old speakers to make them works. I know most of them have a problem with getting the power source, my solution is I can provide the power from the wall, but it is not good the provide 100 to 200 volts of power to a 5-9 volts speaker. I then design a very simple process, I take an Arduino Uno and use the power from that instead. My concern is I don’t know what the current that the speaker needs. But it works! I can now use my speaker as before, also I create a new skin for it from cardboard.

Nefarious Writing Halloween

Today in a literacy class, we were working on writing a nefarious writing for the Halloween. Halloween is not our culture, but why not to learn some from westerns. The activity was simple, in our class, we divided into two teams and everyone will start with a topic of Halloween and after a minute and 30 seconds, we have to pass the paper to another person to continue the story. For us, we keep continuing the story from our friend. In this activity, I found it was entertaining because I got have a chance to see what other people writing styles, and tried to understand their topic. So for me, the story was a bit creative with all of my friends writing, and it is really interesting that in my group all of us understand the main purpose of the story.

The music came on plus there was cakes and drinks. I scooped some cake and putted it my mouth. “This smells gross, and slimy!” I cried every loud. I looked down and there were blood gushing out of the cake. I instantly threw the cake across the room. The cake changed into a monster. It came slowly toward me. I walked backward and unfortunately I tripped over. I tried to get up as quick as possible but before I could even get up, the monster grabbed my neck. This time there nothing I can do, I couldn’t even breath my lungs were tight, I tried to use all of my energy to fight back but I couldn’t. I knew I was gonna die in a few seconds. But then, I heard my dog sound coming and barking at the monster. The dog started to big the monster, and suddenly, my friends come and wake me up with their monster faces. Haha!

Arrowdot Class Beginning

As part of the internship at Arrowdot, they provided us a six-month training in electronics and engineering. There were two sections, 3 months basic training like learning about Arduino and theories, and the last 3 months is advance training like taking those theories and Ardunio works to implement a system for controlling wirelessly.

The first 3 months I spent every weekend from 8 to 11 learning at their place. Now there are only two students from our school, but both of us learn very hard. At Liger the schedule is CRAZY! Most of us are busy doing other things but we still take those spare time to learn. We did things like using the Oled, wireless signal communication, sensor testing, and other works. It is not that easy for me to do this because some part of it I don’t know them that much.

We learn a programming language calls programming C and we us the Arduino IDE as a software that runs the code. My partner and I missed the class a lot because I did other things, so this is part of the reason why it is hard. No matter what I still enjoy this, now basic class ended and we are heading to continue the advance class.

Changing a Code of the LCD

Today, I just finished changing the table of the PSQL, this is the most important part of the coding is to insert data from the node js to the PSQL. I have been doing research on that for days and today, it turns out that I found out the answer. I feel happy for this, usually I went to class and feel board of trying to find the solution.

Math preSAT

For the next 3 years most of our senior students will take the SAT test to apply collages. The practice test that we took was on the website calls Khan Academy; we start to take the test since 8:00 am until 11:00am. In total not include essay, I got a total of 1000 points out of 1800 points. I found out that it is a short exam because there were a lot of questions and I don’t have enough time to finish all of them. So for the next three year my main goal is to improve my speed fast, by practice and practice.

Here i got 10 out of 20, I got 10 questions correct in a row and 10 question wrong because I don’t have enough time, I just randomly select the answer.

Physic Problem Incline Plan

Incline place is what we currently learning about in physic! I felt a bit stress on this class because physic doesn’t working well with me, not like my older brother who got 6th place in Cambodia on physics. Even though, I still have a determination on doing it and sometime in class I love doing physic and happy to finish the works.

Example:

“A 6 kg box is resting on an inclined plane made of wood. The coefficient of static friction of the wood (s) is 0.3. What is the minimum angle at which the box will start moving? (remember the problem I showed you in class! Draw all the forces acting on the box, and please show all the work. Does the minimum angle depend on the mass of the box?”

Khmer Vocab Development

In Khmer class, we not only working on specific work that our teacher assign us. But we also develop our Khmer vocabularies, through reading and words that we unsure about it. Our facilitator, teacher Sokah, teaches us a really creative strategy to decode the words; that is to break down into a small words and combine those definition as a whole. Here are the example of the words:

ISPPMUN 2017

This is my second time at ISPPMUN, that I try my best to talk! It turns out that I fail again, my resolution didn’t pass from the majority votes. This term I did be the main submitter of the resolution. It feels a bit pressure to be the main submitter, I thought that I can’t even read all of the operative clauses to everyone on the committee. This 2017 ISPPMUN I am a delegate of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, the largest country in Africa, I also level up my committee last year I was in Junior General Assembly now I’m in General Assembly 2. I love this there were about 40 delegates in our committee which is a really large amount, we debate strongly and most of us evolved. The theme is a collaboration rather than confrontation and my committee topics are, regulations of Bitcoin, funding education in the low-income country, and depletion of the finite resource. I tried my best to convince people in the house to vote on my topic, but it results in nothing with a fail since I am in a bad side of what people think and the way that I talked was a bit too strong. I enjoyed with the MUN this year.

Ultrasonic Reading Ardunio

The project is part of my learning at Arrowdot. We were learning about the serial reading, and this an example of the serial reading. This sensor calls the ultrasonic sensor, it can measure the distance of something. At first, one of the lenses sends a waveform and then the other will receive the data and collect the time that it takes to go and come back, so by knowing the time and velocity we can take that and find the distance. I don’t think this is a hard thing to learn and what it can take to a bigger project is we can find the depth of water easily.
