Refuse plastic Description

Now I would like to share you about 3R. Do you know about 3R? 3R mean Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

  • Reduce mean we don’t use a lot of plastics. Ex when I go to shopping I did not use the plastic. But I use reusable bag to carry the thing.
  • Reuse mean use plastic again. Ex I use the plastic bag that it broken when I make the reusable bag.
  • Recycle mean we change the plastic to the new thing. But it use a lot of energy. Ex I take the plastic to make the electricity. But it a lot of energy and money to buy the  machine.

On reuse we did the experiment already. The experiment are making something that help people use less plastics. My experiment is make the bag with Vitou and our bag is look good. The bag that we make first is help to protected the tablet from the rain. That bag it take me 5 hours and make from plastic bag that we throw it away. The second bag is for put the books. That bag it take me 4 hours and make from the plastic bag. Landfill mean the place that for put plastic. The problem of landfill is it take a lot of space because it take place to dig the hole and then we put the plastic in. Other problem is it can make the water system is not good because when we do the landfill they has to dig the hole and if the peoples dig the hole is too deep the chemical will go into the water system by people throw the plastic in. One more is make methane gas. Methane gas is the gas the come from the organic west when it don’t have the oxygen and it not good for the environment too. The plant that take the methane gas is the Christmas tree other is not take this gas. Now peoples like to burn the plastic because when they burn the plastic it easy and fast. The problem of burning plastic is it can make Co2 is the gas that we don’t want to have it a lot. Have a lot of smoke that it can make people die by crushing thing because when someone they burn the plastic near the rood. The smoke it spread out to the rood and has some motor or car come then it crush together. When has a trip or have some party they like to throw the plastic to the rood and it can make the float. Other than that is can make the fish die because when have the plastic into the water then fish they think that plastic is their food and they eat plastic so it a can make them die.  To sew the problem we has to help the environment like don’t throw the rubbish in the water, when go to shop take the plastic bag go with, use the leaves of banana, put the rubbish in to the right bin Ex we put the organic waste into one bin and the plastic waste into plastic bin. 5D mean Define, Discover, Design, Develop and Deploy.

  • Define mean to find the problem. Find the problem plastic.
  • Discover mean learn problem. Ex learn the problem of plastic.
  • Defign mead use it again. Ex like I make the plastic bag that strong.
  • Develop mean make it better. Ex when I make the bag finish I think about the bag (How to make it better.)
  • Deploy mean teach someone about something that you do the step 5D. Ex When we do the bag finish we go to teach someone to make the same like us.


On Friday we went to the BKK market. When arrived there I saw a lot of plastics , people rubbish and so on. We went there because we wanted to know about the plastics. Then we interviewed some of the people in the BKK market. We knew a lot of ideas in BKK market. After that we went to City mall market. When we went to there we interviewed some people at there and all thing that in there are use plastics. We went there my friend they in the interview one mad he tell us about coca cola. When he buy the Coca Cola they give him a plastic but he don’t want to take the plastic and he give the plastic back to the seller. After that we are went to stadium and we eat lunch at there. Then we went to Cintri. At Cintri we learn a lot of thing like in one day at PP not all the place they get 1400 ton to 1500 ton of rubbish.

On Wednesday went outside of Liger to ask questions and we are went with some of Sophorn group too. When we went there we saw a lot of plastics and people use a lot of plastic too. We ask the questions to a lot of people because we divided to the group. One have three peoples and one person has to ask 2 peoples. When I ask one moment she burn the chicken I ask (Do you burn the plastic). She says no but she burry the plastic. Then two month she go and she chack the plastic that she burry but the plastic that she burry is not decompose. So I says the plastic it take long time to decompose.



Iron, Plastic bag, Needle, String, Scissor, Buttall

This bag I made with Vitou. This bag it help people to don’t use a lot of plastic and reuse plastic too. It is for put the tablet and so on. When the tablet fall this bag is not help them. But when the rain come the rain it can not go in to your tablet. In this bag it have just only one step and it help you to carry it. The length of this bag is 22 cm-23 cm and the weight is 19 cm-20 cm. The strap of this bag is 110 cm and it have color blue , oranges. To make this bag it take me 5 hours. How to make this bag?

  • Is to make the plastic strong then cut it and take any shape that you want.
  • Sew it , when you sew you have to make it strong
  • Put the strap to the bag and sew it
  • Make any design that you want back or front.
  • Test it with water but don’t test with your table or your phone.

If your want to make your bag strong and did not break your table or phone. You put just the foam or the material that you think it help your table or phone. Then you do the same like I tell you before.

Botany Description

Course Description:In our Advanced Enrichment we learned about botany. Botany means learning about plants. Plants are the only organisms that can make their own food and that’s called sugar or glucose. Plants make their own food is called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis means plants take sunlight to make their own food. Plants make photosynthesis on the leaves. The organ in leaves works to make the food. In leaves have chloroplast and in chloroplast have chlorophyll. Plants take the carbon dioxide and lay out oxygen. During the day, they do photosynthesis. Plants have physical features. There are: roots, stem, leaves, fruits and flowers. In the stem there are two tubes. First tube is for sucking the food or it’s called nutrients and the second tube is for sucking the water. In our class we had the activity is growing the plants. Our resources were paper, plastic bag, water and seed. First we needed to​​ soak paper with water but not very wet and put the seed in it. Rub it not too tight and put in plastic bag. The plastic bag needed to be open for oxygen get in it and put at the place that have a sunlight. We need to put the water, unless the paper is dry. When the seed germinates like come out the stem, leaves, we take out from the paper and put in the soil.

Khmer history Description

Name of Course: Khmer History

Dates Study: August 12-Oct 17

Course Description: In our Advanced Enrichment we divided the group into two. One group learned with Kimchhel and other group learned with Darath. The group that learned with Kimchhel learned about Chenla era (Chela)​ and Preah Bath TroSork Pa-eam era (Dark Ages). But the group that learned with Darath learned about Nokor Phnom era (Funan Empire) and Angkor era (Khmer Empire). At the end of the class both groups shared what they had learned and the group that not yet learned took the notes. Then the teacher asked the group that took the notes about what our friends had told us. Usually we did this for both groups. Also, the group that learned with Kimchhel or with Darath reviewed the things that they had learned from last week. When we learned in Khmer History class we learned a lot about Khmer history. Now we want to tell you one thing from every era. Nokor Phnom era (Funan Empire) was from years 68-550. Chenla era (Chenla) was from years 550-802. Angkor era (Khmer Empire) was from years 802-1431. Preah Bath TroSork Pa-eam era (Dark Ages) was from years 1618-1863.

Days we Meet: Thursday and Friday

Course Description: In our Advanced Enrichment class we learned how to program in Scratch. Scratch is a program for making continuous animation, games, simulation, music and art. This program uses custom programming language. We learned each category of custom programming language: Motion, Control, Looks, Sensing, Sounds and Pen. Motion is moving custom program. Control is controlling custom program, for example when we click right arrow the avatar go to right. Looks is size, avatar, and communicating custom program. Sensing is sensor custom program, for example when we touch color black the avatar turn to black. Sounds is sounds custom program, for example when we press space avatar say hello. Pen is coloring custom program. We learned what the categories mean and we translated in Khmer to make more understand and remember. We played with the program to change the color to make it big. We thought what story we were going to make. Then we made the stories in Scratch. Also some of us made the games. When we had some of questions we asked teacher or our friends to help. We played with makey makey that connects to Scratch. One example of a game we made is when we touch the Earth material that connects to makey makey and the makey makey connects to computer. The computer plays the sounds.   

Biography Description

Description: The first day that we started to learn our Exploration everyone was very excited. Our Exploration studied with teacher Jo, Sambath and Channa. Our Exploration learned about  Biography. Biography is studying about the other person’s life. Biography group worked  together and shared ideas that we had. For example: we went on a trip and searched the  information in computer. When we interviewed we used the strategy to understand about the  other person’s life​​ like listening strategy, asking questions and interviewing. We learned how to  interview the people, by writing down the notes, how to be a good photographer and a good questionnaire. When we interviewed the people already we not just write down notes in our book. We also learned to make a documentary in the iMovie program. Some people worked on the information that  they got too but they did it in Powerpoint program. The reason we wanted to do like this  because in the future if we forget what we have we can look in the documentary of the other  people life. The people that we interviewed were:Sophal’s uncle (the older person and now he  does not do anything because his leg is hurt), Sophal’s sister-in-law (now she not do anything  but she works at her house), Sophal  (works in Liger cleaning the school), Simian (works in  Liger cleaning the school) and Houy (also works at cleaning Liger too). We had many different  people that we interviewed but we only give example some of the people. We took the trip to  go to the pagoda near our school to interview the monks in that pagoda. It was so fun for the Biography group. Our group studied only six weeks. Every day during Exploration time the students worked hard and studied new things a lot. In this Exploration all of the students are not lazy, they are active and helpful. We all were really happy to study about biography and now help us have a knowledge and a lot of the experience that we thought.

Future Jobs Description

Exploration Name: Future Jobs
Exploration Dates: January 20th – March 7th

Essential Questions:
1. How will jobs that help Cambodia look different in the future?
2. What motivates people to choose the job they do?

Description: During the round four exploration we learned about Future Jobs. In Future Jobs we had to develop the presentation questions (ask more questions). We asked more questions because in our Exploration we had a lot of trips that taught us about the jobs in the real life. After that we learned about Nanotechnology, Water crisis and Alternative fuels. Nanotechnology is smaller than atoms. One thing we learned was that it is waterproof and can go underground without breaking. In Water crisis topic we learned that 70% of the Earth is seawater and 30% is land. But just 3% is good water. 884 million people don’t have good water and nearly 1,000,000,000 don’t have water. The last topic was Alternative fuel. We noticed that the gas can live 60 years, oil can live 60 years and coal can live 1000 years. Last we prepared for our job shadow on the next day. Job shadow means to go to the real place of work to do the job with the people that are in the job that helps Cambodia a lot. All of us went to different places with our partner. For example, some of us went to World Vision and some went to Northbridge International School.

Food Systems Description

Exploration Name: Food system
Exploration Dates: March 10 – May 2

A food system is the cyclical process of growing, transforming, packaging, transporting, cooking, eating, and recycling food. Sometimes we can skip some of these steps. For example if we eat a mango that grows from a tree at our house we are skipping packaging, transporting,cooking, and transforming. This is an example of a local food system. An example of a global food system is chips that have ingredients from different parts of the world and are packaged,transformed and transported all over the world. In our class we learned the difference between all three kinds of soil. They are sand, silt and clay. We started to grow the seeds. The seeds have grew, but we have not taken its to grow in our raised beds yet. In one day we have to give the water to the plants 3 – 4 times. We learned the six steps to grow the seeds, from laying the toilet paper to moving them in the tray. We have learned the part of the seeds. There are seed coat, embryo and cotyledons. We learned about the fruits and vegetables. We also learned about global and local food systems. Global is the food that is all around the world. Local is the food that is near. Ex: If we are Cambodian and buy the food in Cambodia that food is the local because it is near where we live. Ex: If we are Cambodian and buy the food from Malaysia that food is the global because it is far away from where we live. Also, we learn about the pros and the cons about local and global food systems. We took four trips to learn about Food Systems. The first trip we went on Organic farm. The owner shown us how to grow the seeds. In his farm there are ten different types of seeds: lettuce, fruit plants and herbs. Also, he told us that insects and the weeds destroy his farm. Weeds are the things that you don’t want. EX: In the farm have the grass that grows, the weeds is the grass because the farmer doesn’t want that to grow in their farm. New technology is that they cover the soil by the plastic because when we put the compost and the water will not go away. Compost is made out of the animals poo mixed with soil and rice husks. The second trip we went to Natural garden store. In that shop sell vegetables, snacks, wine and ingredients. The owner had taught us how to find where the food came from. The owner said that some of his fruits, vegetable and cookies are bought from France, America, Thailand, North America, Singapore, Germany and local. He has own farm in Kampong Speu and at Kampong Som. The third trip we went to University Agriculture. In there we learned about hydroponics. The guide told us that hydroponic is the new technology in Cambodia. Hydroponics means growing on the water. At there we saw lots of lettuce that grows on the water. The last trip we went to Rice Mill. We learned about the different rice in Cambodia. Also, we learned the difference between brown rice and white rice and how both of this rice is good for us.
